17 October 2019 was a special day for European microfinance.
Organized jointly by Microfinance Centre and European Microfinance Network, Brussels Event gathered representatives of microfinance institutions’ and associations, who urge to constantly improve their services. This perpetual will for championing, keeping up with change and meeting the standards paid off: members of both MFC and EMN were awarded with European Code of Good Conduct.
Brussels Event has started with opening remarks from the European Investment Bank. The following part brought not only very inspiring insights on measuring social impact of microfinance by researchers from Microfinanza Srl, Università di Parma, and Rete Italiana Microfinanza, but also an important announcement: Ann Päivi Branch, Head of Unit at the European Commission Branch officially announced the launch of the Funded Instrument, managed by the European Investment Fund and complementing the offer from the Employment and Social Innovation (EaSI) programme. The crowning part of the evening was a ceremony honouring the awardees of the EU Code of Good Conduct for microfinance institutions. Congratulations to all of the Members!

The event was concluded with the Belgian Microentrepreneur of the Year Awards and a networking cocktail between the panels of the mobile exhibition on microfinance.
